Democratic Philippine society that is nurtured by organized and empowered local communities and activist local government units (LGUs) working in dynamic partnership for inclusive democratization and participatory good local governance
OUR MISSION
To establish the Institute of Politics and Governance as a training and resource institute that:
Organizes and enables local communities to counter patronage politics and clientelistic relations; Empowers peoples and community organizations to entrench people-centered political, social, cultural and economic development at the local and national levels;
Sustains a broad and dynamic social movement for participatory democracy and good local governance; Enables women leaders and women’s organizations to contest power relations and dispensation and to engender feminist and gender fair and responsive political system and culture in governance.
OUR GOALS
To develop a constituency whose role in public policy making is not limited to representation by elected officials or as mere clientele of the local bureaucracy but one that is oriented towards active citizenship and the exercise of informed, collective and constructive interaction with the local government;
To develop mechanisms by which peoples’ initiatives in development planning, budgeting, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation are integrated into cohesive, viable, formal processes that institutionalize citizen’s participation in local governance;
To develop and enable women leaders to contest power relations and dispensation, and, with women and men in the local communities, will engender feminist and gender fair and responsive decision making and agenda setting, and production and delivery of public goods and services;
To consolidate, expand and strengthen the Barangay-Bayan Governance Consortium (BBGC) as a network of peoples and community organizations, non-government organizations, and local government officials that will shape a dynamic social movement for democratic and participatory good local governance; and,
To scale up the capacity of the IPG and establish it as a School for Participatory Good Local Governance.
